Final Reflection
Researching this project has been very demanding and very time consuming. Learning about my theme has helped me see how war really is.
There have been a few veterans in my family that have been in the military. My grandfather Gilbert Russell worked as a weatherman for the military. My Great Uncle John served in the Air Force. My cousin Robbie served in the Army building airstrips overseas. My Uncle Mike also served in the military. Another one of my uncles, Buster Carson, served in the Navy during Vietnam. He got P.T.S.D. (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) from Vietnam after serving.
Throughout this project I have gone through mentioning many wars, mostly resent wars. World War II was mentioned in the short story Covenant. Vietnam was mentioned in the Reflections painting by Lee Teter and the song Fortunate Son by Creedence Clearwater Revival. The Cold War was brought up by the movie Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb and the song Land of confusion by Genesis. Even the resent Iraq War was mentioned in the poem God Bless US by Udiah (witness to Yah). And the Ukraine conflict was mentioned in the current event Donetsk Residents Struggle With Daily Life Amid Ukraine Conflict.
War is a lot like a boxing match. Each side thinks that their boxer won the fight, but no one knows who won the fight until the end. And for some fights, you know who will be the victor for most of the fight, like if the United States Army were to invade a third world country, it would be over in a couple of weeks. This would be the same if a third world country were to invade The United States, it would be like an underdog challenging the heavyweight champion.
